Breaking News (Updated)

Former First Lady Barbara Bush admitted to hospital

so anyway, I just heard on the radio (AM 1600 WAAM) that former First Lady Barbara Bush was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Houston for "tests". If you're the praying type, please include her in your prayers tonight.

I haven't found any links yet; I'll include them as I find more info.

Best wishes to Mrs.Bush and the whole Bush family.

UPDATE: Fox News has the story, as does ABC 13 Houston

Shire Network News has returned

in re: a little shop talk

so anyway, the astute reader has noticed that Shire Network News has returned to the Supply Side Politics 2.o blogroll. No longer are they "missing in action".

SNN is offering up a new format and operating tempo. Shorter podcasts, more frequently. More frequently is good, although I prefer the longer format. As I said at the time:

"...I really do not like "change". I have also been around these inter-tubes web-thingies long enough to know not to bitch about free ice cream..."
Shire Network News is one of the finest podcasts out there on the internet. Give them a listen, if you haven't already.

King of the Wild Frontier

and other bits and pieces

so anyway, I should be doing my school-work right now but I need a break. As far as my continuing education is concerned, I have learned that Val-U-Rite vodka and homework do not mix well.

I had a revelation whilst walking The Wonder Poodle this evening: If this whole ObamaCare thingie gets "deemed" as passed on Sunday and Teh Won signs it, it would certainly suck out loud to be invested in the stock market come Monday morning.

Just a thought. I'm not big on predictions but if ObamaCare gets "deemed" and signed, I think a lot of money will get pulled from the market in short order. Like, something approaching one sixth of the current market capitalization. I know, I know: Why can't I have these insights during regular business hours, when you could call your broker and move stuff around. I'm working on my "timing".

Anyhoo, a post titled "King of the Wild Frontier" should contain references to either Thayrone (Supply Side Politics 2.0's Blues Provider of Choice of industrial strength Rhythm & Blues) and / or Davy Crockett (who killed him a bear when he was only three). In this case, I'm going with Davy Crockett.

Via Cold Fury (actual), comes this gem: "Not Yours to Give". I'll excerpt from Mike's excerpt...

“Every man in this House knows it is not a debt. We cannot, without the grossest corruption, appropriate this money as the payment of a debt. We have not the semblance of authority to appropriate it as charity..."
Read both of the whole things, here and here.

There were other things, but it's gotten late early again and I have homework to do. It truly suck to be a growd up student.

ps. President Obama has been in Office for just under 14 months. I've been unemployed for just over 10 months now. Coincidence? Discuss amongst yourselves, this issue will appear on your Final Exam on Tuesday 02NOV10.

Housekeeping

no, I am not dead

so anyway, I've been doing a little "housekeeping" here at Supply Side Politics 2.0. Nothing major, just "brightening up" the side-bar a bit.

I've been unavoidably detained since posting last. I started back to school the week of 22FEB10 and it's kicking my ass. It's a long-ish story for another time.

I've had some blogable ideas since we spoke last, but haven't had the time to address them properly. Some of the blogable ideas follow:

  • Impeach Obama: yes, you can actually purchase a "Impeach Obama" bumper sticker. My question is "Why?" Yes, I understand that the "Impeach Obama" movement has more actual Constitutional standing than the "Impeach Bush" crowd ever had, but putting a "Impeach Obama" bumper sticker on your car is just asking for vandalism. I had my truck vandalized in February of 2000 for having a "Bush 2000" sticker on the rusty old bumper. After that, I kept the "Bush / Cheney" sticker in my glove-box. As the leftist are far more likely to act like petulant children towards those with whom they disagree, why risk it?
  • Related: I'm thinking on printing up some "Cheney / Palin 2012" stickers just to make the collective heads of the populace of Moscow on the Huron (aka Ann Arbor, Michigan) explode. It's what I do. I'm a "giver"
  • Riddle me this, Batman: why is it that the same people who voted for (mmm mmm mmm) Barack Hussein Obama will look you directly in the eye and tell you that Sarah Palin isn't "qualified" to be President. Am I the only one having a "WTF?" moment here? I mean, electing Obama has set the bar pretty fcuking low to begin with, based on the "Obama Standard" I'm far more qualified to hold the office than he is.
There was more, but it's late and I have homework to do.
