Saturday Night Video(s)

The No Strategy Edition...

so anyway, I'm sure everyone had heard this by now.  I'm not asking you to watch the whole thing, jump forward to the 36 second mark and listen for four (4) seconds.

Bad Blogger

it's me, I draw the foul...

so anyway, real life has been pretty persistent at keeping me away from blogging lately.

It is a long story.  That you do not want to hear.

I may have to go back to the "old school" practice of keeping the blogging notes that I generate throughout the day on a flash drive, since I can't do DropBox on my work tube.

I know: First World Problems.  I shall strive to be a better blogger in the future.

Saturday Night Video

tonight will be the first "Battle of the Bands" in this feature's short history...

so anyway, I'm rummaging through the notepad file where I keep all the links to the cool, cool tunes I bring to you on Saturday evenings, and I ran across a conflict.  My note-to-self in the file read "Rainbow - Since You've Been Gone SOON!!!"  All-righty then.  Decision made.  So, I lit up Blogger and started this post, but when I went back to the notepad file and did a quick find for "Since You've Been Gone" I came up with the song by Head East????

Here are the two versions, side by each.  You can vote on which version is better in the Comments below.

First, the original:

Zombie Apocalypse Count-Down Update

to steal a line from doubleplusundead: Best End of Civilization EVAH...

so anyway, Ace links out to thenewsjunkie's exclusive on some dirt-bag prod-tard trying to lie his way onto the Zimmerman jury.  For JUSTICE.  Zimmerman's Law team caught him; he will not be a juror in the Zimmerman case.

In case you're wondering about the post title and my use of doubleplusundead's famous line: I believe the Zimmerman acquittal will be the event that sparks the coming zombie apocalypse.

How much ammo do you have?  It's probably not enough...

Imagine my surprise

upon seeing this...

so anyway, I checked the Sitemeter for Supply Side Politics 2.0 during lunch and what do I see:

The current Sergeant at Arms of the United States Senate is one Terrance "Terry" W. Gainer.  He has held the position since 04JAN07.  He originally hails from...wait for it...Chicago.

Sgt. Gainer was googling the words "Ted Cruz" for some reason when he found my humble blog.

A new feature (Updated)

Let's give this a try...

so anyway, tonight will be the inaugural run of my weekly "link dump".  Here's what I'm talkin' 'bout:  as I go through the week, I keep a Notepad file up on Dropbox (try it...it'll change your life) where I park links, headlines, quotations, snippets of text cut and pasted from the inter-web net-tubes, etc.  Things I want to look up later, or maybe turn into a blog post here at Supply Side Politics 2.0.  Some weeks, there are several dozen links and other items that never see the light of day again.  So, my plan is to dump that file here on Sunday evenings "InstaPundit"-style, just the link or item, and if I can remember why I had captured it in the first place.  Tonight, for the series debut, I'm dumping the contents from my Notepad files for the weeks starting 13MAY13 and 20MAY13.  So without further adieu, let's light this candle:

TFG's scandals, laid out in bracket form ¶

Dana Loesch, prior to Tuesday's TEA Party protests at IRS offices (I actually posted on this one.)

"If the thought that a protest would distract from a winning narrative then we shouldn’t have had the health care protests at all. Protests drive attention to the issue being protested. In this case, it’s the IRS and big government. Entre caveat: I don’t want to see a single sign about Obama. I don’t want to see a single sign about Biden. Or FLOTUS. Or vacations. Or anything other than the overreaching power of big government. No signs on anything other than this malicious and criminal behavior was perpetuated by a government too big to be held accountable. It was carried out behind a veil of purposeful complexity."
My post about Trigger Talk Radio, that I pitched for the AoSHQ Gun Thread (they declined to include it, but there's always next week)¶
"Why limit yourself to a 5-watt CB? You can get ham radio transmitters with up to 1000 watts power. Combine that with a good antenna, and you have transcontinental or ocean-spanning comms ability. And there is no longer a Morse Code requirement to get a ham license, so it's possible to do for even someone casually interested in radio. You do have to write a technical exam, but one does not have to be any kind of electronics geek to pass it, and there are plenty of study guides for it. Think of the exam as being somewhere on the high-school level of understanding electronics.Posted by: zombie Clara Petacci at May 22, 2013 01:24 AM"
From a conversation on the ONT where I had suggested that we should all get CB radios, 'cause THEY can shut down the inter-web net-tube and all the cell phones...¶

James Lileks' flickr feed.  There are pictures of Jasper.  Who'd have thunk it?¶

http://www.startrekcomics.info/parodies.html Not sure where this came from, but I remember being disappointed¶

Trey Gowdy, from Wednesday.  I posted this before, but it never gets old....

The Changes were un-intentional (Updated)

Lucy gots a lot of 'splainin' to do...

so anyway, something has gone horribly wrong with the template and the appearance of the blog has changed.

I am unfavorably impressed.  I'm not a big fan of "change".

I'm working on restoring Supply Side Politics to it's previous..ahem...glory.  I'll keep you posted.  If you would be so kind, drop a comment on this or any post on the blog and let me know what you're seeing, appearance-wise.  Thx.

Odds and Ends

a couple of things that caught my eye today that you should probably know about...

so anyway, some nut-job went all stabbie with a knife at Lone Star Community College in Cypress, Texas this afternoon.  I first saw the news over at Ace of Spades HQ, where Ace quite properly focuses on the "nut-job" aspect and closes with this:

"Obviously there are some political angles to this story. "Assault knives" and such.
The problem, obviously, is "assault people," which is what we used to call psychopaths and murderers before The Burning Times, when all words were replaced by a poll-tested political euphemism."
"Assault people" indeed.

Mike "Cold Fury (actual)" Hendrix took the lateral from Ace and scrubbed it through the libtard filter.  Do go read, it's short and so spot-on it's in-excerptable.

Elsewhere, Consul-at-Arms has some thoughts on our loss of a FSO in Afghanistan:
"We lost another colleague the other day."
Read the whole thing, Serious You Guys*.  Whenever there's news involving the State Department, Consul-at-Arms is the 'go-to" source.

Ace gets proper recognition

CPAC Blog of the Year....

so anyway, Ace of Spades HQ was honored with the "2013 CPAC Blog of the Year" title the other day:

Congratulations, Ace.  You deserve more recognition like this.

We first heard the news with Drew's announcement, then LauraW posted the text of the acceptance speech, as delivered by Gabriel Malor:
"Gabriel Malor is an asshole. He jumped ship to the New York Daily News without ever acknowledging that I am his intellectual and philosophical father, and that I made him, as a baker would make a loaf of Ungrateful Bread.
I have chosen him to accept this award on my behalf out of spite.
Thank you, John, and anyone else for this award. I appreciate it. It is a validation that I, and not the human ventriloquist doll reading this statement, am a true force in the online media.
Thank you again, and please makes sure that that your thunderous applause is directed solely towards me and not this sad puppet that stands before you in all his shame."
So, I'm thinkin' that LauraW is zoomin' us, amiright?

Shire Network News, RIP

I am not pleased with this turn of events

so anyway, after 189 podcasts, the good folks of Shire Network News have called it quits.  To Tom Paine, Brian of London, Meryl, Doug and the others I say Bravo!!! and thank you.

The link to their final podcast is here.  Hopefully, they'll keep their archives available.

Shire Network News was one of the first podcasts I regularly enjoyed.*  For an "amateur" podcast, the production values were excellent and I was always amazed at the quality of their featured interview guest.

And the snark.  Oh, yes, the snark.  World class, it was.  The "Defenders of the Anglosphere...through satire" was their tag line and they lived up to their billing.

To the crew of Shire Network News, I offer the Supply Side Politics 2.0 Award for General Outstandingness:  if any of you are ever near The Peoples' Republic of AnnArbor, I'll buy you not one, but two 40 oz quarts of your favorite beer and all the White Castles you can eat.

In other podcast news, on this week's Ricochet podcast, Peter Robinson breaks into an impromptu Richard Nixon impersonation that is just spot on.

Changes (elsewhere)

I'm not real big on change, but this is OK

so anyway, long time blog-buddy Ragin' Dave has renamed and spruced up his blog. What once was "Four Right Wing Wackos" is now "Peace or Freedom", with a new template and everything. I've adjusted the SSP2.0 blogroll accordingly.

Speaking of template changes, it looks like Steve VodkaPundit Green (and the rest of the Pajamas Media bloggers) have been doing some template tweaking.

Exit question: now that Pajamas' "PJM Political" has ended it's fine run, how long until Steve Green shows up on the Ricochet podcast?
